Pre-High School

We often get calls from middle school parents asking: Is it too early to start thinking about college?

Well, we think “yes” and “no.” It’s too early to think seriously about specific colleges, but it’s not too early to think about high school and where that path leads. Knowledge is power, and this is certainly true when it comes to college admission.
In reality, the road to college starts early – it's an academic path that begins in earnest in middle school. We welcome families with middle school students to schedule a consultation to ensure that these early academic choices align with current interests and any goals for the future.

A single 90-minute Initial College Strategy consultation will include:
  • Review of current academic profile
  • Academic plan suggestions for middle and high school years
  • Discussion of extracurricular activities and best use of summers
  • Overview of the college admission process, factors that influence college admission, how applicants are evaluated, the role of standardized testing (SAT and ACT), how financial aid and scholarships are awarded, and various nuances to college admission
  • And … our urging to focus on healthy and happy adolescent development. College is still years away!
With that information, students can go off and be the middle school students that they are! And, they know that they’ll have the support of Creative College Connections in the years ahead.
